Dream Catchers

The beauty of a dream catcher is that in mind it can both catch the bad dreams before they reach you, and catch the good dreams that you want to be yours. I have been making dream catchers for years and these particular dream catchers were made for my cousin who has been having particularly bad dreams. The stone in the middle is a crystal quartz which is known for magnifying intentions. I have always been surrounded by holistic ideas of health and life yet have always a few steps away from my Native American heritage. This year, I am delving in. Reading all I can about Native American philosophies, I am finding that a part of myself has been waiting for those words to unlock something. Soon we shall find out what. In the meantime, I would love to share my findings with all who are willing to listen.

You have noticed that everything an Indian does is in a circle, and that is because the Power of the World always works in circles, and everything tries to be round... The sky is round, and I have heard that Earth is round like a ball, and so are the stars. The wind, in its greatest power, whirls. Birds make their nests in circles, for theirs is the same religion as ours... Even the seasons form a great circle in their changing, and always come back again to where they were. The life of a person is a circle from childhood to childhood, and so it is everything where power moves.
